DISTINCTIVE STATEMENT
School's theologically-rooted Christian Vision September 2024
Our vision here at St Andrew's C.E. Infants' is for every child to be able to 'Learn together in friendship and faith' and to experience living in the fullness of life (John 10 v10).
Learning at St. Andrew's is seeing and talking about what we can see, developing skills, acquiring new knowledge, building on what we already know. practising and progressing in order to achieve and be ready to learn more. It is also learning about ourselves and one another and that we can learn as a body, as a pair and as an individual. There is always someone here to support us, with a challenge, in any area of life.
I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will counsel you with my loving eye on you. Psalm 32:8
Together - Koinonia is a Christian value whnich is lived out at St. Andrew's as everyone is valued and respected. Our golden rules and our behaviour policy are based around our 6 Christian values - in the choices that we make - are we being a good friend, are we showing compassion and forgiveness to those around us? Our aim is to foster and develop skills to work alongside and with others, growing together as learners.
'From Him the whole body joined and held together by every supporting ligament, grows and builds itself up in love as each part does its work' Eph 4:16
Friendship - here at St. Andrew's building developing and fostering our skills of friendship is an essential component in our early school life. We focus on being kind and caring to those around us, thinking about our words and deeds, learning how we feel and then encouraging empathy for those around us.
'Love one another as I have loved you'. John 13 v 34
'A friend loves at all times'. Prov 17 v 17
Faith - we aim at St. Andrew's to continue our pupils spiritual journey encouraging opportunities for awe, wonder and reflection. We, through a variety of levelled questions and first hand experiences aim to deepen their understanding of faith and to take that next 'step' - faith being the surety in what is not seen, but knowing that we are loved above all else.
'While we look not at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen: for the things which are seen are temporal, but the things which are not seen are eternal' 2 Cor 4 18
Our 6 Christian Values of friendship, compassion, resilience, forgiveness, thankfulness and peace aid us to live out our vision, working together, showing kindness to those around us, forgiving our friends if they make the wrong choice, not giving up, being grateful for what we have and giving thanks and vitally, being peacemakers 'Blessed are the peacemakers for they shall be called Children of God'. Matt 5 v 9
